let me answer with a story:
It was christmas eve, and a famous frenchman was on his way to being inducted into the French Academy. As he did every night, he stopped at the newspaper kiosk of an old hunchback to buy a paper. And he said to the hunchback:
“With all my fame as a leader of the goverment, the church and french culture, i think my only friend, the only person i’ve known throughout the past 20 or 30 years. so i must tell you, as i go to receive this honor, my heart is heavy with a secret i have kept all my life and that i dare not share with anyone but you, who i know will keep it. the secret which would utterly destroy me if ever it was known, is that i am a jew.”
the hunchback thought for a moment, put his hand on the great man’s shoulder and replied, “my friend, i feel the same toward you. and so i, too, have a secret to share. i am a hunchback.”

people of any race, creed, color can hate themseves. to have a term for one group is bigotry. are jews who hate arabs self-hating semites? mohammed is a misanthrope and possibly a sociopath but not a self-hating jew.

Being an individual is fine. But once you start defining your individuality by what you are not, you are just as defined by what you are negating as those who do identify themselves directly with that which you are negating. Just a general observation.

I don’t define myself by what I’m not. On the other hand, I will protest attemts to categorize me or impose someone elses definition on me often and relatively loudly.
