TUSHY-FACED GEDOYLIM
Walking into snag yeshives, one can think that these sanctimonious pietists were always wrapped "b'itztula d'kedusha" and had a tzureh of a yid, a ben toyreh - especially in der alter heim. So here we introduce to you, the GQ Ben Toyreh, who put "gadlus ho'odom" before "gadlus haboyrey," or even before "gadlus hazokeyn." (Click on thumbnails to enlarge.)
Rav Aron Kotler:
Rav Shneur Kotler:
Rav Shach:
(Like picture of Mendel MH"M Schneersohn, without yarmulke or hat. But at least in that picture, MH"M has a full beard. [See: http://mentalblog.com/2005/12/report-card-of-lubavitcher-rebbe.html ] .It may be that Rav Shach's beard didn't grow in fully yet.)
Rav Ruderman (aka Futerfas, from Mendel Futerfas' family) of Ner Yisroel:
Rav Hutner, #2:
(Shimi Deitsch printed in "Larger Than Life" a solo picture of Rav Hutner in Berlin without a beard.)
Rav Steinmen:
Rav Elye Shvei:
Rav Aryeh Malin of Beys Hatalmud:
Rav Shmuel Rozovsky of Ponovitch:

asshole, that picture of R.Shach is a passport photo and the well-mannered russians didnt give you a choice if you wanted to wear your yarmulka.
Schneerson,on the other hand was hooleving all around Berlin without any headcovering.

They look like mafia, except weak
not like a “man” as man in markava
not like Rabbi Yosef Chyim “The Ben Ish chy”
Or Bava Shalom
or Bava Sali who said Ovadya Yosef would of had Ruach ha Kodesh if he had not trimmed his beard
Those “dikna” (conduits) of mercy are a big thing.
That is all that I can say

shtik drek iluy, if you’re so smart you’d know that schneersohn’s pic was also a passport/school photo, & that he did NOT roam berlin b’giluy roysh. he always wore a hat/beret. (he was bald [”crown head”] from an early age, so he’d want to cover his head anyways.).
where is shach’s payes, huh? (later he had those grobe payes.)
August 1st, 2008 at 11:28 am
schneerson hooleving around berlin has nothing to do with any photo that you may be talking about.
when he was in university in berlin and in the cafes you know he wasnt wearing his koppel or his signature Stan’s Smashed Borsalino.
August 1st, 2008 at 12:28 pm
so now you change your tune from “without any headcovering” to “wasn’t wearing his koppel or his signature Borsalino” - but what about a beret or some other hat? & he did wear his fedora regularly, as attested to in all the pictures of those days (the only pic of him b’giluy roysh is not when he is “about town,” but for a passport/school ID photo). you just don’t know your facts, as “prodigious” as you may be (which is debatable).
you still didn’t answer me what happened to shach’s payes.
& i wonder what bachelor hutner was doing in berlin those very years…

there is a famous story which I’ve heard years ago, someone asked R’Hutner if Schneerson learned torah in Berlin and he said “ich gloib nisht ahz her iz g’lernt un kein yarmulke”
(I don’t believe hed learn without a yarmulke)
Sorry if you don’t like that.

as far as the peyos, if he indeed doesn’t have payos(i can’t see behind his ears), back then in lithuania only rabonim wore peyos, certainly not bochurim.
R’Schach was unusual that he had a beard, although he may have been a rav already in that picture.

The Rebbe was a tzadik !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Get the fuck over it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Accept it or move on.
August 1st, 2008 at 7:59 pm
And by the way…
We can drag HSD’s negel vaser post into this.
You are supposed to wash the feet of a Tzadik when you gis negel vaser for them.
rebetzin Chana washed The rebbes feet when he woke up and she gis’d negelvaser for him.
Obviously, it was obvious from a young age that The Rebbe was a tzadik.
Get over it.

August 2nd, 2008 at 9:19 pm
this was one of the funniest posts in a long time here.
I am looking for a photoshop type program that shows you what someone with a beard would look like clean shaven.
no, no, no, I am not planning to do it to Rabbi Schneerson…. I always wanted to see what zz top looked like without a beard.

HSD. I have been to The Ohel with you. I have watched you daven at Rebetzin Chaya Mushkas Kever.
Quit the crap. Both of us have been through alot and have all the reason to hate the world. But…
There are some lines even we have to draw.
I saw the look on your face while you were davening. Get over it and embrace the fact that you met a Tzadik and live with it, and love it.

“tushy-faced” - what an earthy lubi term. good ol’ kalusdike lita, the highpoint of torah study.

keeping in line with the popular “separated at birth” association, most infamously portrayed by Spy Magazine a”h’s paired pics of Whitman & Schneerson above the caption “Brooklyn bard… …or Brooklyn messiah” - herewith are some shiduchim for our afore-depicted Gedoylim:
Aharon Kotler (Pines) = Wyatt Earp
Shneur Kotler = Humpherey Bogart mit glezer
Eliezer Menachem Shach = a young Stalin
Ruderman (Futerfas) = Meyer Lansky mit glezer
Hutner #2 = Al Capone
Aryeh Malin = Mickey Roonie
Shmuel Povorsky = Charlie Chaplin
Fill in the rest & leave your own twins.

May H’ help all of us get baqck on the derech hayashar.

Watch this video were Rabbi Chazkel Besser (of Agudas Yisrael of America) tells over what he heard from Yitzchok Meir Ferstenberg – who was friends with the Lubavitcher Rebbe while they were in Berlin, Germany in 1928:
http://inforebbe.blogspot.com/2010/03/rebbe-didnt-change.html
“While we talked one time, he [Ferstenberg] mentioned he knew the Lubavitcher Rebbe from Berlin . . the Rebbe was a student at the university . . he was very impressed. For me it meant a lot, because he [Ferstenberg] generally was a critic. I very rarely heard from Itche Meir, praise about someone; rather the negative side. And over here, he was full of praise.
“He told me, by the way, “the Rebbe never changed. He always wore a hat or a beret or something,” which in Germany was unusual. Here [in the USA] you don’t understand, but in Berlin, in Germany, you couldn’t enter a bank without taking off your hat, or go to a drug store – you had to take off your hat - They would tell you that you have to do it – And he [ the Rebbe] had a beard, uncut, untouched. But that was not the greatness for him to tell of the Rebbe, that he did have a beard. He saw more in the Rebbe then these trivialities….”

Rabbi Joseph B. Soloveichik said this: “I can testify, he [the Lubavitcher Rebbe] never missed going to the Mikva, one single day [while in Berlin].”"
