Yossi Raitchick, זצ”ל
(pic and hat tip; vosizneias)
I ran into him twice needing a favor and he helped in a way I will never forget. But it was at his home on Shabbos in Kfar Chabad where I saw this man shine. A true spirit of a Chosid with love and deep felt caring for all and all. He was different than most of the top Chabad brass in that he continued a chassidic spirit now scarce. He spoke, dealt, helped and cared for what others would term losers not because he was this great guy helping but because he lived according to the time honored chassidic dictum that all are holy and one etc.
When I saw this, I was shocked, him being so young, and his dad having just passed a few years ago….
I once heard him at a Purim farbrengen shout at the famous Chabad scholar Rabbi Mondshein, who complimented him about his dad, with Jerusalem flattery, and Yossi, looked at him and said "Who the fuck are you to speak about my father?!"

nice obit.
and who the fuck are you to speak about Yossi!
September 22nd, 2008 at 8:42 am
I grew up in Los Angeles and I remember my father taking the Raichik boys along with us to Dodger games.
I also remember that Yossi and Rabbi Shimon never felt that little snot-nosed brats like myself were below them.
Yossi, zt’l, and Rabbi Shimon were/are anomalies. They stood up for what was right, and were not afraid to stand up to Shlomo Cunin and his Goons.
Even if you think that the Rebbe was a fraud. The Raichiks personified everything good about Lubavitch; what it should be as opposed to what it has become.
The world lost a great man.
September 22nd, 2008 at 9:03 am
how old was he?
September 22nd, 2008 at 9:28 am

Tzemach,
You are way out of line here. two people confirmed for me that he did not smoke.
You, however, should take up smoking. Weed and cigarettes.
September 22nd, 2008 at 10:37 am

what is the truth?
September 22nd, 2008 at 10:42 am

September 22nd, 2008 at 10:43 am

September 22nd, 2008 at 10:44 am
don’t confuse cause with the effect.
his lung failed but why? what is the truth.
September 22nd, 2008 at 10:53 am
what about Edelman who died from a heart attack when he really jumped out of the window. I don’t believe this shit anymore.
September 22nd, 2008 at 10:53 am
and then again, so did she.
does it matter if someone had a compulsive need to chase away the pain by smoking cigarettes or drinking booze or eating big bowls of chulent or shooting up on dope?
the chaser might vary,
but the trigger is always a hurting heart
“only the good die young”
while the rest of us smoke cigarettes drink booze eat chulent and do dope
callously
trying to forget those who once cried
but no one would
listen
are there any reitchiks on 7fatcow?

September 22nd, 2008 at 11:50 am
Moral of the story: if you deeply respect somebody do not bring it up at 7fatcow.

September 22nd, 2008 at 2:25 pm
tzemach, what the fuck is your problem, just because when someone jumps out of a window, they call it a heart attack, doesnt mean that every person that dies jumped out a window
dimwit
September 22nd, 2008 at 2:56 pm
moron, read my questions.
September 22nd, 2008 at 3:24 pm
I never met Yossi, But based on the comments he was a smoker with aids that jumped out the window.
Is that how he should be remembered?
September 22nd, 2008 at 3:36 pm
halvay
September 22nd, 2008 at 3:52 pm
he should be remembered as man who wasted his life of the most retched culture in the world that can’t even tell the truth about his death.
September 22nd, 2008 at 3:53 pm
make that can’t tell the truth period.
September 22nd, 2008 at 4:48 pm
Tzemach,
You are giving Lubavitchers/frum folks too much credit. I just called my father and he told me that while, he didn’t know what Yossi Raichik, ob”m, died from, he did know that he was awaiting a lung replacement.
So, I decided to look up lung replacement and this is what I found:
“A lung transplant is a surgical procedure that is performed on patients who are suffering from end-stage lung disease, an irreversible condition that can result from a number of disorders … such as severe cases of emphysema, pulmonary fibrosis, cystic fibrosis, and pulmonary hypertension.”
I think the reason why no one knows what he died from stems from the complicated sounding words like “cystic fibrosis” and “pulmonary hypertension.”
The same is true of Lubavitcher history where words and diseases like Multiple sclerosis are too complicated and so kids are taught that the Rayatz was wheelchair bound as a result of beatings at the hands of the Soviets.
September 22nd, 2008 at 5:14 pm
is there a shortage of cultures to dislike in this world that you have to pick on chabad? so what if he died from lung cancer, in its no secret in tomechei temimim that cigarettes are bad for your health
September 22nd, 2008 at 5:28 pm
tzemach,
wretched
September 22nd, 2008 at 5:52 pm
Pseudonym, what could be worse indictment for the culture than wordless slime like you. I wish you will die soon too. I don’t care what you will die from, just die piece of shit.
and take chabad and the rest of the Judaism with you, moron.
September 22nd, 2008 at 5:53 pm
wretched anonymous slimenball.
September 22nd, 2008 at 5:58 pm
Kovi, let’s take your exmaple
cystic fibrosishttp://www.answers.com/cystic%20fibrosis
“Cystic fibrosis (CF) is an inherited disease that affects the lungs, digestive system, sweat glands, and male fertility. Its name derives from the fibrous scar tissue that develops in the pancreas, one of the principal organs affected by the disease.”
now read on
“CF affects approximately 30,000 children and young adults in the United States, and about 3,000 babies are born with CF every year. CF primarily affects people of white northern-European descent; rates are much lower in non-white populations.”
this sickness affects young people and would not apply to a 55 year old. Point being there is a cover up. We don’t know why he died.
September 22nd, 2008 at 6:51 pm
Tzemach, stop stirring shit! He needed a transplant and never got one. Is that too complicated for you?
September 22nd, 2008 at 8:27 pm
Rabbi Y. Raichik passed away from a disease called ‘Pulmonary Fibrosys’, for more info go to http://www.pulmonaryfibrosis.org/ipf.htm
September 25th, 2008 at 11:35 am
tzemach, i knew him well personally and our families were close. i also saw him when he was in ny which was all the time. he had all the symptoms of pulmonary fibrosis during the last year and a half. dry hacking cough, rapid weight loss, fatigue especially because he worked like a horse day and night, always clearing his throat etc.. almost every week he flew to ny on sunday and back to israel on thursday. he was a really nice guy, and its a shame that u condemn/soil his good name just b/c of general dislike towards a movement or previous cover-ups etc.
September 25th, 2008 at 11:39 am
just btw he wasnt a smoker and the doctor found the problem about 2 years ago. he kept pushing it off bc the doctors said it wasnt urgent…. they were wrong.
September 25th, 2008 at 3:47 pm
it was god’s will.
September 25th, 2008 at 6:36 pm
Shitalphin,
Don’t be a dick. He was a good man. Sometimes, in spite of itself, Charedi/Lubavitch etc. produce amazing people. Yossi was one of them.
