This is heartbreaking. I had many many wonderful talks with Mr. Segal, about Torah and various other things via email. He was a great great guy and a fantastic reb. I will certainly miss him greatly as I viewed his video posts on youtube to be very positive and inspirational. He brought me even closer to Hashem than what I was. I owe him greatly for his contributions to me and helping me understand certain things better. I, as are many, wondering how he passed away as I think it is necessary to understand or it is necessary for people to know so that life doesn’t seem so dark and unknowing. May Hashem bless and comfort his family in this time.

Still no news as of how or why he died???

I am willing to bet it was suicide

Could the moderator please take down that last comment from Shach X out of deference to the family’s desires to dealing with this tragedy? Their intentions should be blatentLy obvious to everyone and there is no reason for those kind of postings.

who appointed you the censor?

We’re talking about his mother and 2 daughters, ages 5 and 6. Have a little respect.

Sal is correct!! Only Hashem needs to know what happens as everything is in his hands. Weak minds and morbid curiosity have no place in this forum. I know Ronen would not be posting such self serving rhetoric if someone else passed on. Your time would be better spent using his life as an example of how to better YOURSELF and praying for your own redemption!! Rest in peace sweet prince….

It is important for us to know how he died. First of all, he was somewhat of a public figure, like it or not. Secondly, he posted a lot of videos on youtube, expressing his views. If there was some sort of foul play involved, then all who might publish on youtube are at risk and it would be wise to know for their safety. There might have been an effort to silence him.
Also, there is a large body of his work on Youtube. If his tragic and early death was a result of suicide, or an overdose it would help to better understand the comments that he made.

Why are you willing to bet such a horrible thing. Maybe he was too good a Neshama for a world full of insensitive people to publicly make such a statement such as you did. He only tried to help people, sincerely and selflessly. When you see his videos, if you are a truly spiritual person and as a matter of fact even the less spiritual can feel G-D in his eyes, and in his soft manner of speaking. May we give charity in his name, so his soul may be elevated.

I attended college at the University at Albany with Ronen and knew him from the few classes we had together. I just learned of Ronen’s passing through the alumni magazine. I will never forget his gracious and calm demeanor, and his commitment to his convictions. Truly a man for whom G-d had broken the mould.

This is just another case of everyone sweeping under the carpet a real problem that needs to be dealt with.

I recently stumbled upon Ronen’s videos online and learned from the comments that he has passed away even though it is a year?. I did not know him or about his videos prior to this. His videos are amazing and his views, some even controversial to me, like the LSD videos, but still find a genuine man of peace who was devoted to help enlighten others and himself by trying to understand life through connecting to God as he best understood it. It’s hard to put in words about him and his videos. He respected everyone, was understanding and open minded.
I don’t know how he died, but from reading comments everywhere, one can only lead to those speculative conclusions of what happened, especially when the family does not want the public to know.
I compare him to brilliant influential minds like musicians, writers, philosophers, and poets who touched so many, but yet themselves died under tragic and undesired circumstances.
We shall not judge, but accept, respect, and love each other. Life is too short and is mysterious, challenging, beautiful, painful, and rewarding all at the same time. Each of us has a different challenge and struggle to understand and overcome. We can be happier only when we learn to love, tolerate and support one another but also trust God.
Ronen may You Rest In Peace.
