3 Items on Lubavitch

November 18, 2008 By: zoroastroyid Category: Good vs. Evil, Madness, Ruckus, Snag!, art, asides, comparative religion, kidush hashem, moshiach's tsaytn, scary shit, sex, yeridas hadoyres 8 Comments →

In honor of the forthcoming convention of Chabad-Lubavitch shluchim, we herewith offer 3 items related to Chabad which you may have missed:

1) The September edition of New Voices, which they title "The Lubavitch Issue." Our very own Anarchist Rabbi Captain Sholom Keller is featured on the cover with an extensive interview:

Hatomim Sholom Keller

2) Tanya in the comix (in the pocket of a Rubashkin yet!), by the talented Eli Valley(http://www.evcomics.com/). See the bottom right frame:

3) A Rubashkin-related story you may not have heard of : A shliach arrested on alleged sex abuse charges with a 13 year old boy:

May Chabad continue with their glorious work until giluy Melech haMoshiach, AMEN!

PS: To the Rebbe-philic cows out there - this is about Chabad, NOT the Rebbe (this time), so do not delete. Unless you consider "Chabad" as synonymous with cyanide & exposure to it (spiritual) suicide…

Another blow for women: playgirl closes shop.

In today's NYT:

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/11/16/fashion/16playgirl.html?_r=1&ref=todayspaper&oref=slogin

"They aspired to bring Playgirl back to its roots, back to a time when the magazine covered issues like abortion and equal rights, interspersing sexy shots of men with work from writers like Raymond Carver and Joyce Carol Oates."

"The women’s dreams crashed when Blue Horizon Media, which also puts out hard-core magazines, announced it was shutting Playgirl. The last issue, dated January/February 2009, recently arrived on newsstands."

" Playgirl’s passing certainly will not be lamented as would the death of a more respected, or even a mildly respected, magazine. Yet for its writers and fans, something tangible has been lost in its closure."

“It was almost a way to get back at Playboy,” said Pamela Des Barres, the famed former rock groupie, who wrote a music column for Playgirl. “It was a great idea, and it could have been done better. It did offer women a way to see some gorgeous hot, young, sexy guys, and nothing’s wrong with that.”

“I think a different kind of porn is very degrading to women, but the kind of stuff we were peddling was about what women wanted,” said Ms. Caldwell, who is 26. “For better or worse, this was a real blow for feminism. We were the only magazine that offered naked men to women.”

The fat Nanach in this video, I was with him in Uman, he woke Uman by screaming, in the square, dead of night: “I need samim! God said to Moshe ‘take for yourself samim!’ in the holy of holies, samim! WE NEED SAMIM! WHO HAS SAMIM!” woke up everybody staring out from windows in slumber at his drug quest
